Rusty Plum Design is Merren Asquith, Interior Designer, and Mark Asquith, Landscape Designer.
We offer Interior Design, and Landscape Design solutions that incorporate local context, ‘former- life’ furniture and curios, and promote locally produced art.
We approach our projects and designs in this way because we care about our community and local environment, we respect and value ‘nice old stuff’, and we aim to promote the value of using good design in everyday life.
We have lived in the Bellinger Valley on the Mid North Coast of NSW for just under 30 years, and love the creative and healthy lifestyle that this area offers.
What’s our passion?
At Rusty Plum Design, we’re passionate about engaging good design to create more playful and effective spaces, at home or at work. Good design is like that….it’s meant to make you smile!
A space that works well, creates ‘flow’, and can be both energising and enjoyable, or relaxing and calming.
This can effectively minimise stress, aiding productivity.
We at Rusty Plum Design care about the provenance of items that have ‘lived’ another life, and where possible, try and re-use or re-purpose items in suitable projects so they can be loved, all over again!
Yes you can afford our services
A lot of people feel intimidated by engaging a designer or planner because they think it will cost them an ‘arm and a leg!’
Rest assured. We promise never to have a cauldron bubbling when we meet!
We are friendly, approachable, used to listening, and competitively priced so we expect that you will feel comfortable to discuss your idea or project with us.
We like to work collaboratively with you to identify what will best meet your needs for your project.

Merren Asquith helped me enormously in planning and designing my new kitchen to a given budget. She provided some great ideas in a detailed report which covered everything from the overall concept to a computerised layout, including colours and exact storage combinations. Several of her ideas provided solutions to a few problems I couldn’t get my head around. It was great to have that fresh input with someone who could understand and discuss options.”
